Lindsay FFA I have been, a member of the Lindsay FFA. It has given me many experiences which can't be given nearly as well from anywhere else. Everything learned in FFA can be put into life anywhere you go. Some of the main things learned in the FFA are respect, confidence and responsibility. FFA provides a wide variety of teaching material, that develops skills in everyone who puts their mind to it. Everyone who walks into FFA will start off a certain way, but will walk out a changed person.
Some experiences I have in FFA are some that I will never be able to forget, I started off in my freshman year by going to field trips with the ag classroom. I have went to places like the Tulare County Fair & The World Ag Exports. Later I got inspired to get more involved into agriculture. So I started a rabbit project, taking a meat pen of rabbits to the Porterville fair. I got 5th place in showmanship and my meat pen of rabbits got tenth place in quality. Both of these placings were really good for my first time showing livestock. I ended up showing rabbits again in the Tulare Fair after Porterville and did much better got Third place in showmanship, and showed a breeding rabbit who got best in breed. Throughout the times when I'm just at home not showing at fair, I breed my rabbits twice a year and sell their bunnies. I have also Started an Ornamental Horticulture project during my freshman year. I started off with just two leaves and stems of a golden pothos plant and they later grew into more and more plants. I now have 6 pots of golden pothos leaves, so far I have sold three plants making thirty dollars in total and twelve dollars in profit. During my Junior year, I already had a rabbit project, and an Ornamental Horticulture project which I've kept up for three years and wanted to try another one. As the Lindsay FFA was Holding project meetings for livestock both big and small, I bought a breeding goat to show in the Porterville Fair. I worked with her along with my rabbits, training them all to be the best I can make them. As it became time for the Porterville fair I have become experienced with both rabbits and goats. In my first time showing goats I got Third Place in showmanship, and my breeding goat got second place in quality. I brought a total of three Purebred Californian meat rabbits to the fair; a senior breeding buck which got best of breed, a junior breeding doe which got best of breed, and a junior breeding buck which got reserved breed. I showed my junior breeding buck and got sixth place in showmanship. Throughout these three years I've been in FFA I have also participated in many community service projects for Lindsay and it's chapter. I helped with arranging cups full of things to make hot cocoa and cups full of candy for all of the staff members in Lindsay High School. I have also helped with cleaning up the Tulare County Fair , Cleaning the Lindsay farm for Lindsay FFA Kiddie day, and putting together awards in the Lindsay FFA awards banquet committee. I have recently participated in the 2015 Tulare County fair showing two breeding purebred Californian rabbits, a breeding goat, and a market goat. My rabbits both placed best of breed, I won first place in showmanship and later first place in small animal round robin. I won 8th place in goat showmanship. My breeding doe didn't place in quality, and my market goat won third place in quality and was deemed market ready. He was sold at five dollars per pound, and was sold to Brem Livestock and E.M. Tharp. Later into the year I participated in the Chapter Officer Leaders Conference and got to meet FFA officers from different chapter, learn more about the responsibilities of my office, and gain more experience in leadership. The Lindsay FFA Officer team then practiced once a week for the Opening and Closing ceremonies contest, we made sure to be uniform, accurate, and have a professional appearance as to our opening and closing procedures would occur in our chapter meetings. Then, it was time for us to compete in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies Contest in Tulare. We didn't place but still did really well, the practice for O/C ceremonies has improved my skills as a secretary for Lindsay FFA. |
LHS Anime ClubI am also a member of the Lindsay High School Anime club. It is a club where anyone who is interested anime related material can join and interact with other students who share similar interests. In anime club we buy pizza and get together to watch anime. We bring anime related video games or Yu-Gi-Oh cards, to bring up duels between members and officers. On special occasions we do anime related activities in the club. We plan out possibilities for new manga in the Lindsay High School Library. We also hold an anime movie night twice a year inviting anyone to come and watch anime related movies or horror films. I have joined anime club as a member during my freshman year. I later applied for the position of secretary during my Sophmore and Junior year. This year I am a senior and I gave the position of secretary to another member. I love just being a member of the club now because, it leaves me with less responsibilities and gives me the time to enjoy the club activities without the responsibility of taking notes which I had to do as the Secretary. The club makes me feel as a valued aspect of the club. Even though I'm not an officer I'm respected by anime club members because, I have been a part of Anime Club all four years of highschool and help organize each of the weekly meetings. Throughout my four years of membership in anime club I've had a place where I can go to in which I can forget about my every day responsibility and enjoy myself for a great amount of time.

Step UpDuring my Sophmore year in high school I was chosen to be a member of the Step Up program along with 5 other students to make a change in our community. As a group the step up team and I, would get together to plan out how we would make a change in our community. We went to conferences motivating us to help make a change throughout our lives no matter where we are at. After deciding from a wide range of possible changes we can make in the community. It has come to our attention that lindsay had the highest pregnancy rate in the valley. So, throughout that year we created a sex education class for the highs chool to decrease the amount of teen pregnancies in Lindsay. As the year came to an end the Lindsay Step up team went to the Step up Red Carpet Event in the Visalia Convention Center, where we received an award for an original community service project.
